Photo competition terms & conditions
Please read these terms of use (“terms of use”, “terms”) carefully before using https://thetravelfestival.com/ (Website) operated by Tailormade Inspiration Limited (“us”, ‘we”, “our”). These terms and conditions shall govern Users’ participation in the Cambridge Travel Festival Photo Competition brought to you by The Travel Festival.
Definitions
The use of “We,” “Us”, “Our”, means The Travel Festival, our subsidiaries, affiliates, and any of our respective agents and third-party service providers (“service providers”).
The use of “You,” “Contestant,” “User,” “Entrant” means the individual accessing or using our website, or the Company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using this website as Applicable.
The rules
The Travel Festival reserves the right to change any of the rules without prior notice. The revised rules will be posted in this section of the website, and it is the entrants’ sole responsibility to review this section and to abide by the rules of the awards.
By completing the online entry, entrants will confirm that they have read and agreed to be bound by the rules of the competition. Any breach of these rules by an entrant will disqualify their entry. If a breach has occurred, but is discovered after the award of a prize, then the organisers may disqualify that entry and request the return of that prize.
Conditions of use
Entry is open to anyone except those directly involved in running or judging the competition.
This website is provided on an “AS IS,” “as available” basis. Neither our Company nor its affiliates, subsidiaries, or designees nor each of their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, third-party content providers, designers, contractors, distributors, merchants, sponsors, licensors, or the like (collectively “affiliates”) warrant that use of this website will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Neither our Company nor its affiliates warrant the accuracy, integrity or completeness of the content provided on the website. However, we strive to provide you with a user-friendly website.
By using this website and entering the photo competition, you certify that you have read and reviewed this Agreement and that you agree to comply with its terms. If you do not want to be bound by the terms of this Agreement, you are advised not to use this site. We only grant use and access to those who have accepted its terms.
Privacy policy
We respect the privacy of all Users. Before you continue using our site, we advise you to read our privacy policy below regarding our user data collection. It will help you better understand our practices.
Age restriction
You must be at least 18 years of age before you can enter this competition. By registering with us, you warrant that you are at least 18 years of age and you may legally adhere to this Agreement. We assume no responsibility for liabilities related to age misrepresentation.
Closing date and entry date
Entries are open from 1st July 2024 and shall close on 31st October 2024. Contestants may enter any category they are eligible for. The maximum number of entries allowed per person is strictly ten (10).
Image eligibility
- Camera Equipment: Entries shot on either film or digital cameras are eligible for all categories. Film images must be scanned and then entered online. Transparencies and negatives or any other postal entries will NOT be accepted.
- Digital manipulation: You are allowed to edit photos using digital editing software for all categories. But you are not permitted to manipulate the image or the elements of the composition in a way that is deemed to change the image beyond what was in the original unedited file.
- Multiple composite images: Photos that are created from more than one image are not allowed except stitched panoramas or exposure bracketing of the same scene (i.e. HDR images). If unsure about the eligibility of the image please contact The Travel Festival prior to entering.
- Replacing parts of the photo: No form of replacement of any part of the image including sky replacement is allowed.
- Copyright, watermark or name: As entries are judged anonymously, any entries with visible copyright including watermarks or anything that identifies the photographer in the photo will be disqualified from the competition.
- Image size: Uploaded images should be in jpeg file format at a resolution of 72dpi and a maximum file size of 2 MB. Note, this is a guideline and entries will NOT be disqualified if they exceed 2 MB.
- AI-Generated Images– Images generated wholly or partially using artificial intelligence are ineligible and will be disqualified.
- Copyright: Images that infringe the copyrights of another photographer are ineligible.
Shortlisted contestants shall be required to provide the original image file (Raw or JPEG as shot) of their image for final judgment. Where images have been shot in JPEG only, the judges may ask to see sister images (the previous and next image to that original jpeg).
Judging
Judges comprise of staff from The Travel Festival as well as an independent panel appointed by the organisers. All winners and highly commended will be chosen by the judging panel whose decision is final in relation to the competition.
No correspondence in relation to the competition including lobbying is allowed with any of the judging panel. Anyone found to be doing so will be disqualified from the competition.
The judging panel and The Travel Festival or its sponsors will not enter into any correspondence regarding the organisation or judging of the competition.
Prizes
GRAND PRIZE – Large canvas print of photo + a Barr & Stroud ‘Sahara’ 8×25 binocular, sponsored by CAMPKINS CAMERAS
All the category winners will receive a one-year free digital subscription to JRNY Magazine. In addition, all winners will have their photos printed and displayed in the public exhibition gallery for the duration of the Cambridge Travel Festival.
There are no substitutions for any of the prizes and they cannot be transferred to someone else.
The organisers reserve the right to substitute any of the prizes for an alternative with an equivalent value at any time without prior notice. Changes will be posted on the competition website.
The organisers also reserve the right to withdraw any or all of the prizes if they deem that the entries are not of the required standard to win any of the prizes.
Winners will be contacted by email and will have 45 days to claim their prize. Failure to do so will result in forfeiting the prize. Prizes may take up to 90 days from the competition’s end date to be delivered. The organisers take no responsibility for undelivered emails. It is the sole responsibility of the entrant to ensure their supplied information is accurate.
All prize winners agree to their success being publicised by the organisers and/or sponsors of the competition in all channels and outlets including social media.
Intellectual property
The Travel Festival
You agree that all materials, products, and services provided on this website, including logos and trade name are the property of Tailormade Inspiration Limited, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, suppliers, or licensors including all copyrights, trade secrets, trademarks, patents, and other intellectual property. You also agree that you will not reproduce or redistribute the intellectual property in any way, including electronic, digital, or new trademark registrations.
You grant us and our partners and affiliates indefinite royalty-free and non-exclusive license to display, use, copy, transmit, and broadcast the content you upload and publish. The photos will only be used in relation to the photography competition to promote the competition and also showcase the best photos and winners on the websites and social media.

User intellectual property
By registering with us in this photography competition, you agree and confirm that you are the sole author and owner of all images submitted for the competition. We assume no responsibility for liabilities related to intellectual property infringement such as copyright infringement.
User accounts
As a user of this website, you will be asked to register with us and provide private information. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of this information, and you are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of your identifying information. By entering the competition you are accepting that your name and email will be added to the The Travel Festival mailing list. You can unsubscribe from these mailing lists at any time.
If you think there are any possible issues regarding the security of your information, inform us immediately so we may address it accordingly.
We reserve all rights to terminate accounts, edit or remove content and in our sole discretion.
Applicable law
By visiting this website, you agree that the laws of the United Kingdom without regard to principles of conflict of laws will govern these terms and conditions and any dispute of any sort that might come between us and you, or its business partners and associates.
Disputes
Any unresolved disputes related in any way to your visit to this Website shall be resolved in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, and you consent to exclusive jurisdiction and venue of such courts.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Tailormade Inspiration Limited and its affiliates and hold us harmless against legal claims and demands that may arise from your use or misuse of our services. We reserve the right to select our own legal counsel.
This Agreement is an understanding between the Company and the user, and this supersedes and replaces all prior agreements regarding the use of our services.
