Travel Festival Added To Cambridge’s Thriving Festival Calendar

The inaugural travel festival will bring inspiring travel talks, travel photography gallery, and a  world of travel experiences, and expert advice, to Cambridge and the surrounds.

CAMBRIDGE, UK (7th June 2024): East of England’s newest festival, the Cambridge Travel Festival makes its debut at the Cambridge Guildhalls on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th November 2024.

The festival will bring together inspiring speakers, travel photography gallery and masterclasses, representatives from global destinations, as well as local and regional experiences. Experts will be on hand to provide plenty of ideas and practical advice for festival visitors’ next holiday, travel experience or activity.

“Travel seemed like a missing part from Cambridge’s thriving festival scene, we plan to firmly fill that gap with this event. It’s certainly not just for armchair travellers, we want to inspire people to get out and experience places near and far. Travel can be a force for good, having a positive impact on the visitors, and the host communities they interact with; it’s a win-win”, says Byron Shirto the festival’s organiser.

Maria Manion, Cambridge BID CEO says “We are delighted to announce our partnership with the brand-new travel festival coming to Cambridge. Both Cambridge BID and Visit Cambridge are excited to collaborate on this vibrant event, celebrating our city’s rich culture and welcoming spirit.” Maria Manion CEO Cambridge BID

The festival will host a series of travel talks by some of the world’s most adventurous travel authors, presenters, and content creators.

Visitors to the festival will be able to see the winners and runners-up of the World Travel Photography Awards 2024 by JRNY travel magazine and learn about capturing that great image themselves. In addition, east of England residents can enter a brand-new Cambridge Travel Festival Photo Competition and be in with a chance to win some great prizes too. Kav Dadfar, JRNY’s co-founder and an award-winning travel photographer, says “We can’t wait to share the amazing winning images in Cambridge, which will be on display in a public gallery for the very first time. I’m also really looking forward to talking to people about my two favourite things: travel and photography.”

Visitors will be able to meet in person representatives from some of the world’s most inspiring tourism destinations, as well as local Cambridgeshire, East of England and UK regional experiences and activities.

The festival will take place on Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th November 2024, from 10am to 4pm each day, at the Cambridge Guildhalls in Cambridge. Entry to the festival is £8pp and includes free travel talks, travel photography gallery and workshops, expert travel advice, discounts on holidays, and a chance to win prizes, including travel books and many other travel-related giveaways.
